Kurt Rambis played in the NBA for 14 years before coaching for the first time in 1994. He is a four-time NBA champion and is currently the deputy head coach of the New York Knicks. He is 6 feet 8 inches tall and plays the power forward position.

Rambis was born on February 25, 1958 in Terre Haute, Indiana. He moved to California during his childhood, where he attended Cupertino High School. He attended Santa Clara University in 1976 and was named Player of the Year in 1980.

Profession
Rambis was selected by the New York Knicks with the 58th overall pick in the 1980 NBA Draft. After being cut by the Knicks, he played in the Greek Basketball League for a year. He signed with the Los Angeles Lakers in 1981 and won his first championship in 1982. He was nicknamed “Superman” because of his bushy mustache and thick-rimmed glasses. Rambis briefly played for the Hornets, Suns and Kings. He resigned with the Lakers in 1993 and retired in 1995 two years later. Rambis served as an assistant coach for the Lakers from 1994 to 1999, and served as head coach during the suspension season in 1999. He served as the head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves from 2009 to 2011 and returned to the Lakers in 2013. On February 8, 2016, after Derek Fisher was fired, he was appointed as the interim head coach of the New York Knicks. He is currently the deputy head coach of the Knicks.
