KT McFarland is a US government security official and former Fox News national security analyst. Choose President Donald Trump to serve as National Security Advisor. McFarlane was born on July 24, 1951 in Madison, Wisconsin, her original name was Catherine Troia. Her parents are Edith and August Troya. McFarlane graduated from Madison West High School in 1969. She received a bachelor’s degree from George Washington University (1973) and a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Oxford University (1978). McFarlane later studied for a doctorate. The MIT project. McFarlane started her career in government with a part-time job in the Situation Room of the White House. She spent several years in the West Wing before being appointed to Henry Kissinger’s National Security Council staff. She served as an aide during the administrations of President Richard Nixon and President Gerald Ford. McFarlane served as Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs from 1982 to 1985 under President Ronald Reagan. In 1985, she was awarded the National Defense Distinguished Service Medal for her service.
In 2006, McFarlane ran for the United States Senate in New York as a member of the Republican Party. She was defeated by fellow Republican John Spencer in the primary election. Spencer eventually lost to Democrat Hillary Clinton in the general election. McFarlane was selected by the Trump administration as deputy national security adviser in November 2016. She previously served as an associate national security analyst for Fox News. She also hosted DefCon 3 on FoxNews.com and contributed to the Fox Forum.
