Kool Moe Dee Net Worth: Kool Moe Dee is an American hip-hop MC with a net worth of $500,000. Mohandas Dewese (aka Kool Moe Dee) was born on August 8, 1962 in New York City, New York. In the late ’70s and early ’90s, he was a well-known hip-hop MC, one of the first rappers to win a Grammy, and the first to perform at the Grammys.
In the late ’70s, Kool Moe Dee met Special K, DJ Easy Lee, and LA Sunshine on Enjoy Records, and together they formed old-school hip-hop group Treacherous Three. In 1981, they moved to Sugar Mountain Records with another showman who enjoyed the label, The Flash and the Furious Five. In 1985, the trio disbanded, and Kur Modi enrolled at the State University of New York at Old Westbury, where he earned a degree in communication. In 1986, he officially went solo and released the album of the same name, which ranked 83rd on Billboard, and went on to release a number of solo albums. Kool Moe Dee has a longstanding rivalry with New York rapper LL Cool J. Along with other rappers such as MC Shan, Kool Moe Dee claims that LL stole his rap style. Kool Moe Dee continues to appear in remixes of Will Smith’s first pop hit Wild Wild West and Nas’ Where are They Now with other old-school rap artists. In 2003, he wrote a book called God on the Microphone, which breaks down his 50 favorite MCs. In 2008, he started hosting SpitFire with Kool Mo Dee, an online hip-hop talk show discussing hip-hop culture and general issues. He also had a brief cameo role in the film Wild Style and appeared in the films Beat Street with the Theatrous Three and Doug E. Fresh. To date, he has appeared in 17 films and TV shows as an actor and 21 as his own.
Kool Moe Dee also played a bartender in Britney Spears’ feature film “Crossroads” and appeared on the TV show My Wife and Kids.
