Born in Sioux City, Iowa, in 1981, Kirk Hinrich started playing basketball at an early age. He attended the University of Kansas from 1999 to 2003 and earned Third Team All-American honors in his final season with the Pine Eagles.
The Chicago Bulls selected Hinrich with the seventh overall pick in the first round of the 2003 NBA draft. He played in the Windy City from 2003 to 2010, then for the Washington Wizards from 2010 to 2011, the Atlanta Hawks from 2011 to 2012, and a second time from 2012 to the present (currently fall 2014) On the Bills team. He earned All-Rookie First Team honors in 2004 and All-NBA Defensive Second Team honors three years later in 2007.
