What is Kirk Hammett’s net worth?
Kirk Hammett is an American songwriter and guitarist with a net worth of US$200 million. Kirk Hammett is known as the lead guitarist of the very successful heavy metal band Metallica.
early life
Kirk Hammett was born in San Francisco on November 18, 1962. He grew up in El Sobrante, California. His mother is of Filipino descent, and his father is of German, Irish, English and Scottish ancestry. He attended De Anza High School in Richmond, California, across from San Francisco Bay. His classmate at De Anza High is Les Claypool, and he is the future founding member of Primus. Kirk and Rice were friends at school, and they are still very close today.
His brother Rick’s music collection introduced him to music, including albums by Led Zeppelin, UFO, and Jimi Hendrix. He first picked up the guitar when he was 15 years old.
In 1979, at the age of 16, he joined a flogging metal band he called Exodus. Kirk stayed in Exodus until 1983. Also during this period, Kirk began taking private solo lessons with Bay Area musician (and future guitar god) Joe Satriani.
Metal
Metallica was composed of lead singer James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich in October 1981. Exodus and Metallica performed many shows together in the thrash metal scene in the fledgling Bay Area. Metallica released its first album “Kill’Em All” in 1983. Unfortunately, the band’s original guitar Dave Mustaine struggled with material problems and was fired by the band on April 11, 1983. On the same day Mustaine was fired, Kirk received a call from James and Lars, inviting him to fly to New York (where the band was recording) to audition. Although he has never left California, Kirk has collected money for a plane ticket. The first song “Seek and Destroy” played during the audition had a heavy guitar solo. Hetfield later said that Kirk had completed the solo in the first filming, and they knew he was theirs since then.
In the next three years, Metallica will continue to be one of the most successful rock bands in music history. Of course the most successful heavy metal band. At the time of writing, the band has sold more than 125 million albums worldwide. When they are touring, they are still one of the highest paid bands in the world. In a given tour year, Metallica’s ticket sales, merchandise, and royalties are $7-100 million.

Kirk wrote many pieces for the band that are now considered classic guitar improvisations. One of them is “Enter Sandman”, which will become the band’s biggest mainstream song.

Death/Destiny
In 1986, while touring Europe to support the album “Master of Puppets”, Kirk and bassist Cliff Burton had a dispute over sleeping arrangements on the tour bus. The two parties settled the dispute by drawing cards, and the person with the highest drawing will get the upper berth behind the bus. Burton won the ace of spades. Sadly, in the early hours of the next morning, while crossing Sweden, the bus slid off the road and overturned. Burton was thrown from the bus through his double windows, and the bus fell on him, killing him on the spot.
Other hobbies
Kirk is a lifelong fan of horror movies. In 2012, he published a photo collection showing his passion for monster movies and horror memorabilia. His horror collection includes Bela Lugosi movie costumes, many original horror movie posters, props and more.

In 1993, he spent US$2.56 million to purchase a large mansion in the affluent Pacific Heights community in San Francisco. This 10,000 square foot residence was designed in 1899 and has eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a billiard room, a music studio, and a wine cellar that can hold 2,000 bottles. Kirk tried to sell the house for $12.5 million in 2006, but failed to find a buyer. It was finally sold for $7.6 million in December 2009.
In 2005, he spent US$5.7 million to buy a house for US$5.7 million in an ultra-luxury area called Sea Cliff in San Francisco. In 2010, he bought the house next door for US$8 million, hoping to build a mini compound. These plans were never realized, so he eventually put both houses on the market. He sold the original house for US$12.8 million in March 2018. He sold his second home in February 2019 for $11.7 million. This is a combined profit of 10.8 million U.S. dollars.
Kirk also owns a ranch somewhere north of San Francisco, and viewers can see it in the documentary “Metal: A Kind of Monster”. He owns the ranch through trust, and its exact location is difficult to determine.
