Early life and career start
Kimila Ann Basigner was born on December 8, 1953 in Athens, Georgia. Her mother Ann Lee (formerly known as Cordell) is a model and actress, and her father Donald Wade Basinger is a loan manager and big band musician, as well as a U.S. Army veteran. She has four brothers and sisters. From the age of three to his teens, Basinger studied ballet. At the age of seventeen, she participated in the Miss American Junior Scholarship pageant and won the title of Miss Athens Junior. Ford Model Agency provided her with a model contract. In 1989, Basinger was persuaded by some family members to purchase most of the private land (1,691 acres) in Braselton, Georgia, for US$20 million. The aim is to build the town into a tourist attraction, and hold a film festival and many film studios. However, after experiencing some economic difficulties, Basinger began to sell part of the land in 1995. The event that really exacerbated her financial problems and made everything more difficult for her was when she withdrew from the controversial film “Boxing Helena” (which was finally released in 1993 with Sherilyn Fenn as the leading role) ).
