During his young formative years, Peloquin watched the WWE and followed the careers of wrestlers like Nick Bockwinkel, Rick Martel, The High Flyers, Road Warriors, Hulk Hogan and Jesse “The Body” Ventura. Chi Chi (Cruz) is known for his work on independent promotion tours such as Canadian Extreme Wrestling, Real Action Wrestling, Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling, IWA-South Central, All-Star Wrestling and USA Wrestling (in his other capacity)/rings name Chi Chi Cruz). In addition to Canada and the United States, Cruz has worked in countries such as Germany and South Africa. He is the cousin of wrestler Fred “Puppy” Pelokin. Cruz was trained by Ernest Rheault before making his professional wrestling debut for Central Canada in 1986. In 1988, when Cruz was 20 years old, he competed in the All-Star Wrestling Tournament run by Al Tomko in Vancouver, British Columbia. In 1990, Cruz traveled to eastern Canada to work for the Atlantic Wrestling Grand Prix, where he teamed up with “Bulldog” Bob Brown and won the AGPW Tag Team Championship with minor success. In AGPW, Cruz won the AGPW Intercontinental Championship. Other ring names/altered egos he has worked on include Bobby Bolton, CC Quinn, Carnage and Donald Duck.
