Kiefer Sutherland was born Kiefer William Frederick Dempsey George Rufus Sutherland on December 21, 1966 in Paddington, London, England. His parents Shirley Douglas (died in 2020) and Donald Sutherland are Canadians, but they have achieved success as actors in the UK. Kiefer’s twin sister, Rachel, is a post-production film supervisor. He has four half brothers, Thomas, Rossiff, Angus and Roger.
The Sutherland family moved to Corona, California in 1968, and Donald and Shirley divorced two years later. Kiefer and Rachel moved with Shirley to Toronto, Canada in 1975, where he studied acting at Sir Frederick Banting Middle School.
