Keshia Chante is a Canadian R&B singer, songwriter and TV personality. She hosted BET’s 106 & Park from 2013 to 2014. Her recordings include Keshia Chante (2004), Night & Day (2011) and Unbound 02 (2018). She has won multiple honors, including 5 urban music awards and a Juno Award. Keshia Chante Harper was born on June 16, 1988 in Ontario, Canada. Her mother Teresa Agnelo is Portuguese and Puerto Rican, and her father Roger Harper is Trinidad. Chante’s second album 2U came out in December 2006. It was supported by the singles “Ring The Alarm”, “Been Gone” and “2U”. The official music video of “Been Gone”, the two-disc project “Night & Day” directed by director X. Chante, was released by Universal Music in November 2011. It produced the singles “Table Dancer”, “Set U Free” and “Test Drive”. Her first EP Unbound 01 was independently released in March 2017. It was nominated for the Juno Award for best R&B recording. The second Unbound 02 was released in March 2018. The latter was supported by the songs “The Valley”, “Lights Out” and “Bittersweet”.
In addition to music, Shante is also an actress and TV personality. She played “Mahalia” in the TV series “Soul” (2009). She played “Renee” in the short film Soul’d Out (2013). Chante and Bow Wow co-hosted BET’s 106 & Park (2013-14). The first lady Michelle Obama made a guest appearance on the show in November 2013.
