Born in Cleveland, Mississippi, in 1979, Ken Lucas played college football near his Mississippi home. He earned All-SEC and All-American honors in 2000 and was Mississippi’s premier kicker and punt returner while still playing cornerback.
The Seattle Seahawks selected him with the 40th overall pick in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He played for the Seahawks from 2001 to 2004 before joining the Carolina Panthers from 2005 to 2008. He briefly returned to Seattle in 2009 and has been an unrestricted free agent since, though, as of the fall of 2014, Lucas had not officially retired from professional football. During the 2004 season, he co-led the NFC interception, completing over 500 tackles, 86 pass deflections, 25 interceptions and two forced turnovers. Lucas had nearly 300 interceptions for return yards and a touchdown. He played in 138 career games and started 112 times. The 6-foot, 205-pound corner had one of his best seasons in 2002, drawing national attention for his two interceptions of former Falcons quarterback Michael Vick. In 2004, he was also a great player.
