Kavitark Ram Shriram was born in Madras, India in the mid-1950s and graduated from the University of Madras before immigrating to the United States and later obtaining US citizenship.
Shriram worked for Netscape in 1994 and soon left Junglee, where he was president. Junglee was an online comparison shopping site that was eventually acquired by Jeff Bezos and Amazon.com. Bezos hired Shriram to stay at Amazon and serve as an executive at the company. He became one of Google’s first investors and is currently a founding member of the company’s board of directors.
