Brian “Kato” Kaelin is an American TV and radio celebrity with a net worth of US$2 million. Kato Kailin gained fame as a witness in the infamous OJ Simpson murder trial. He has appeared in many reality shows and game shows, and has appeared in movies such as “Beach Fever”, “Prototype” and “BC Butcher”.
Early life and career start
Kato Kelling was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1959, his original name is Brian Gerald Kelling. As a child, he received the nickname “Kato” from the name of Bruce Lee in the TV series “The Green Hornet”. He attended Nicolet High School in Glendale, Wisconsin and graduated in 1977. Later, he attended the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, but did not graduate. During college, Kailin created his own talk show “Kato and Friends” and hosted a game show on campus TV. In the end, he packed up and moved to Hollywood, California.
Kailin made her debut on the big screen in the 1987 Australian comedy “Beach Fever”, telling the story of men making love potions and trying to pick up girls on the beach. He starred in the low-cost horror film “Night Shadow” in 1989 and in the post-apocalyptic science fiction film “Prototype” in 1992.
OJ Simpson and the Fallout Trial
In the 1995 murder case against former football star OJ Simpson, Kaelin served as a minor witness for the prosecution.
Kato met the murder victim Nicole Brown on New Year’s Eve in 1993, which became 1994. They immediately connected, and after returning to Los Angeles, he moved into her as a platonic tenant, paying $500 a month to live in her townhouse. He also served as a nanny for Nicole and OJ’s two children. When Nicole adopted a dog, the children insisted on naming the dog “Kato”.
At some point, it is inappropriate to decide that Kato and Nicole live together. Conveniently, OJ said that he can stay at the hotel at Simpson Rockingham Manor for free. Therefore, in the murder on June 12, Kato was present. Some key parts of Kailin’s story contradict Simpson’s story. Although he did provide valuable evidence, Kailin was declared a hostile witness by prosecutor Marcia Clark. The trial attracted great attention from Kailin. An investigation showed that many Americans agreed with his character.
Even after Simpson was acquitted, Kailin’s role in the trial continued to cause media controversy. The cover of a tabloid “National Examiner” is that Kailin does not wear a shirt, and the headline is “The police think Kato did it!” The paper stated that the police suspected Kailin for perjury; Kailin subsequently sued the publisher for defamation, arguing that The title implies that he is responsible for the murder. Although the Central California District Court rejected his case, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit overturned this decision. It became a landmark case in defamation law, and Kailin finally settled a US$15 million lawsuit with the publisher out of court.

Soon after the trial, Kailin appeared in the premiere of the skit comedy series “MADtv”. Also in 1995, he briefly served as a radio talk show host at KLSX in Los Angeles. In the late 1990s, he appeared in two episodes of the sitcom “Unhappyly Ever After” and played himself in three episodes of the Showtime series “Beggars and Choosers”. In addition, Kaelin has participated in many reality shows. Participated in the “Celebrity Recruit Training Camp” series in 2002, and helped develop the program “Hotel” in 2004, but it was not broadcast in the end. From 2005 to 2006, Kaelin was the co-host of the Daytime TV court program “An Eye for an Eye”. In 1983, Kaelin married Cynthia Coulter, and he met a waiter in Los Angeles. Later they had a daughter, Tiffany. Later, in the 2000s, Kaelin dated Amber Thompson, Barbara Dare, and Elizabeth Daily. Recently, he was with Leyna Nguyen, an Emmy-winning journalist and KCAL news anchor.
In the early 2000s, Kailin was best friends with actor and comedian Noam MacDonald, and played guest roles in his series “The Norm Show”. They fell out and ended their friendship.
