Katie Ritchie is an American actress, writer and comedian. She is best known as a comedy writer for “Saturday Night Live” and “Second City.” Her film credits include Ice Harvest and Bad Johnson. Richie was born on June 30, 1983 in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up in Orland Park and attended Carl Sandburg High School. She completed her undergraduate degree at Northwestern University.

Ritchie made his debut as a member of “Katas” at the iO Theater in Chicago. Katydids consists of six female members, all named after Katherine. Richie continued her career with the comedy troupe Second City. She toured with them for a few years. Ritchie has appeared on many shows, most notably “South Side of Heaven”. In 2013, she was nominated for an Equity Joseph Jefferson Award for “Let Them Eat Chaos.”
Rich was hired by Saturday Night Live as a comedy writer in December 2013. She’s been involved in a few episodes, including SNL’s “Weekend Update.” Her performance earned her a Writers Guild Award nomination for the 2015 Comedy/Variety – Sketch Series. She was also nominated for a 2016 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing – Variety Series. Ritchie had a small role in the 2005 thriller comedy “Ice,” starring John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton. In addition to movies, she has appeared in commercials for Walmart, RadioShack and Discover Card.
In January 2017, shortly after President Donald Trump’s inauguration, Richie made headlines. She came under fire for a Twitter post directed at Barron Trump, which read that “Barron will be the country’s first homeschooled shooter.” Richie has since deleted the post and apologized. She was suspended indefinitely by NBC.
