Katherine Langford is an Australian television and film actress. She played “Hannah Baker” in the Netflix adaptation of 13 Reasons Why. She plays “Leah Burke” in the upcoming comedy film “Simon vs. Homo sapiens Agenda” (2018). Langford was born on April 29, 1996 in Perth, Australia. She graduated from Perth Modern School in 2014 with a Diploma in Musical Theatre. She is also a member of the school swimming team. Langford went on to study musical theatre at the Principal Academy of Dance and Dramatic Arts.

Before acting, Langford showed an interest in medicine and politics. She has been studying vocal music since she was 9 years old. She is trained in classical, jazz and contemporary art. She also started playing the piano, inspired by pop singer Lady Gaga. Langford’s early performance credits include a role in her school production The Sorrento Hotel (2013). In 2015, she played “Morgan” in the musical Godspell. Later that year, she appeared in the musical EVITA at the Koorliny Arts Centre in Perth.

Langford played “Scarlett” in the short film “The Daughters” (2016). The film premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France. She also had major roles in The Imperfect Quadrant (2016) and Misguided (2017). Langford’s first major role was as “Hannah Baker” on the network television series “12 Reasons Why.” The show premiered on Netflix on March 31, 2017. It also stars Dylan Minnett and Christian Navarro. Thirteen Reasons Why is based on Jay Asher’s 2007 novel of the same name. Langford played “Lia Burke” opposite Nick Robinson in the comedy “Simon vs. Homo Sapiens Agenda” (2018).
