Carl Pohlad Net Worth: Carl Pohlad is an American investor and MLB franchise owner with a net worth of $2.6 billion. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1915, Karl Pollard played football at Compton Junior College until he was recruited to the team at Gonzaga University in Washington. Pohlad dropped out his senior season and was soon called up to World War II.

Pohlad saw action in Europe and was scheduled to be deployed on the beaches of Normandy until a battle with poison oak kept him out of the early stages of the operation. He was later awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star after being wounded in action. Pohlad’s business began during the Great Depression, when he began foreclosures on farms around the Midwest. Soon he invested in several local banks and eventually developed his own banking business. In 2002, Marquette Bank was sold to Wells Fargo. In the mid-’80s, Pollard bought the Minnesota Twins of Major League Baseball and saw the team win two World Series championships. For about a decade, he was part-owner of the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings. Pohlad passed away on January 5, 2009. He has been married to his wife Eloise since the end of the war. She died in 2003 after 56 years of marriage. They sang three songs together, all working for the Minnesota Twins.
