K. Angeledy Net Worth: K. Anji Reddy is an Indian pharmacist with a net worth of $1.5 billion. Born in Tadepalli on February 1, 1939, in Kallam Anji Reddy, he became rich as the founder and chairman of the pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy Laboratories (DRL) Ltd., which listed him as the world’s billionaire.
Graduated from the University of Mumbai with a Bachelor of Science degree. Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Science and Fine Chemicals, Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from National Chemical Laboratory, DRL was established in 1984. The company, currently run by his son and son-in-law, formed a partnership last June with Merck, a division of Germany’s Merck, to develop cancer drugs. In addition, DRL previously entered into marketing agreements with GlaxoSmithKline and a joint venture with Fujifilm to manufacture and sell generic drugs in Japan. Most recently, Bristol-Myers Squibb sued DRL for allegedly infringing patents on cancer drugs. Reddy also chairs the Dr Reddy Foundation (DRF), which he founded in 1996, and is a member of the Prime Minister’s Council of Trade and Industry of India. The government awarded him the prestigious Padmabhushan Award for his contribution to the Indian pharmaceutical industry. K. Anji Reddy died of liver cancer on March 15, 2013.
