Kanye West is a Grammy Award-winning American rapper, singer, music producer and fashion designer. He was born on June 8, 1977 in Atlanta, Georgia, to parents Donda and Ray. West grew up in Chicago, Illinois, where he attended Northstar High School, followed by the American Academy of Art. He studied at Chicago State University but did not complete his degree.

West’s close friend and mentor, No ID, taught him how to sample and arrange beats. His debut as a producer was on the 1996 album “Down to Earth” for rapper Grav. West continued his success as producer of Jay Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records. Since then, he has produced songs for recording artists Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys and many others.
West’s debut studio album, The College Dropout, was released in 2004 and reached number two on the Billboard 200. The album sold over 2 million copies and won a Grammy for Best Rap Album. His TV shows include Keeping Up With the Kardashians and Entourage. In addition to music, West is also known for his Yeezy clothing line in collaboration with Adidas. The project includes menswear and footwear. The shoe collection includes the Adidas Yeezy Boost and Adidas Yeezy Duck Boot.
