Judy Woodruff was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in November 1946. She has worked in TV stations such as PBS, CNN and NBC News. Woodruff is a board member of the International Women’s Media Foundation and a member of the Foreign Relations Committee. Woodruff graduated from Duke University and started her career at the CBS subsidiary in Atlanta, Georgia, from 1970 to 1975, where she served as a news anchor.
In 1975, she joined NBC News and reported on the 1976 US presidential campaign. From 1977 to 1982, Woodruff was the chief White House reporter for NBC News. She also covered Washington for the NBC Today Show.

She moved to PBS in 1983 and served as the chief Washington correspondent for McNeill/Lyler News Hours for ten years. From 1984 to 1990, she hosted the PBS documentary series Frontline With Judy Woodruff. Woodruff joined CNN in 1993 and hosted Inside Politics for 12 years.
Since 2006, she has hosted the monthly series “A Conversation with Judy Woodruff” on Bloomberg Television. In 2013, she and Gwen Ifill became co-anchors of the Friday and Weekend editions of PBS NewsHour. After Eiffel’s death in 2016, Judy became the only anchor, and Woodruff wrote the book “This is Judy Woodruff” at the White House.

Since 1980, Judy has been married to columnist/reporter Al Hunt. They have three children. They own a residence in Washington, DC, and a waterfront property in Maryland. Judy and Bob Woodruff are distant relatives.
