Hamilton served as an outfielder for Major League Baseball teams such as the Cincinnati Reds, Texas Rangers, and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. During his career, he was a five-time MLB All-Star and won the American League Most Valuable Player Award.
Unfortunately, Josh’s career was seriously derailed by injuries and substance abuse issues. Joshua Holt Hamilton was born on May 21, 1981 in Raleigh, North Carolina. He proved his baseball talent while playing for the high school team. After graduation, as he approached the 1999 MLB draft, he was one of the most popular prospects. He then signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays with a $3.96 million signing bonus. Before his major league debut, Hamilton was already battling drug problems and failing at least one drug test.

In 2006, he was drafted by the Chicago Bears, who immediately traded him to the Cincinnati Reds for $100,000. He was then traded to the Texas Rangers in 2008. He has reached a fairly high level during his time with this team. He also credited Jesus for bringing him “back from the brink.” In 2008, he announced that he had not used any drugs since 2005. As his substance abuse problems became widely known, Hamilton was forced to regularly provide MLB urine samples throughout his career. Josh complied without any problems. His teammates were also well aware of his struggles, which led them to celebrate major wins by drinking ginger ale instead of champagne.

However, he did suffer serious criminal consequences after beating his eldest daughter. He was formally charged in 2019 with assaulting a child, a third-degree felony. Kate and Josh started dating in 2002 and married in 2004. Josh divorced Katie after 11 years of marriage after relapsing and taking drugs again in 2015. During their relationship, they had three children together. The family also includes a child from Katie’s previous relationship.
Hamilton’s wife later said she was “completely caught off guard” by the divorce and felt it all came out of nowhere. Multiple outlets reported that Josh found out she was cheating on him, but Katie later vehemently denied those claims. It was clear that Josh was the one who filed for divorce.

Originally built in 2013 to a design by renowned architect Will Hosband, the home features Provencal-style architecture, six bedrooms and less than 11,000 square feet of living space. Other highlights include a double-sided fireplace, beamed ceilings, game room, home theater, wine cellar, eight-car garage, elevator, infinity pool and fountain.
The home also sits on a half-acre lot with views of the surrounding coastline and harbour. Originally, the home was listed for $16.5 million. The price then dropped to $14.9 million before it sold for $12.5 million. Hamilton originally bought the property in 2013 for $12 million, meaning his profit margin was relatively low. Since he was divorcing at the time, he was probably in a hurry to sell, as property division could be an issue.
Also in 2016, Hamilton listed his Texas residence. The home in Westlake is listed for $3.43 million.
