His parents are Kenneth and Quarner Brown. He has three siblings. Brown attended Foyle High School, followed by the University of Nebraska. Brown earned SuperPrep All-America Qualifying and First Team All-State honors in high school. He is also a 2-time Class A state champion in the high jump. Brown chose to play in Nebraska instead of Oklahoma. In freshman year he wore a red shirt. He played for the Cornhuskers from 1999 to 2002. Brown played a total of 46 games and scored 315 points as a kicker. He ranks third in scoring behind Chris Brown and Eric Crouch. In his senior year, he was selected to the first team in the Big 12.
Brown was selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the 222nd overall pick in the 2003 NFL draft. He won the Golden Toe Award in 2006 as the NFL’s best kicker. Brown played for the St. Louis Rams from 2008 to 2011. He briefly signed with the New York Jets, followed by the Cincinnati Bengals. Brown signed with the New York Giants in March 2013. He made his first Pro Bowl selection in 2016. He was released by the Giants in October 2016.
