Joseph Schooling is a Singaporean swimmer and Olympic gold medalist. He was the first athlete to win an Olympic gold medal for Singapore. Schooling’s parents, May and Colin, were born on June 16, 1995. He was educated at Anglo-Chinese School before moving to the United States. The school attends high school in Jacksonville, Florida. He continued his education at the University of Texas at Austin.

Educated at Bolles School in Florida. He continued his swimming career at the University of Texas as a member of the Texas Longhorns swimming team. He was named the Big 12 Rookie of the Year as a freshman. Schooling specializes in butterfly, freestyle and individual medley. He won over 15 gold medals at the 2011-15 Southeast Asian Games. 2014 Asian Games gold medal, 2014 Commonwealth Games silver medal, 2015 World Championship bronze medal.

At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Schooling competed and won Singapore’s first Olympic gold medal. He beat Olympian Michael Phelps in the 100-meter butterfly in 50.39 seconds. Back in 2008, when he was 13, Schooling had met and posed with Phelps.
