Jonathan Brandmeier was born in Fundurac, Wisconsin in 1956, and began appearing on local radio in 1973. By the time he was 18, Brandmeier appeared on television in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and soon moved to several towns in Appleton. Was a DJ before looking for a job in San Jose, California.
By 1980, Brandmeier was working on a radio station in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a year later he was a morning DJ in Phoenix, creating funny, goofy content for the morning commute. His first album, “Just Havin’ Fun,” was released in 1982, and a year later he was hired by WLUP for Chicago Mornings. He’s behind the local hits “Hey Der Milwaukee Polka,” “The Moo-Moo Song” and “Were All Crazy in Chicago.” He worked at WLUP for almost 15 years until a management change in 2001 forced him to switch to another radio station (WCKG). Brandmeier took a hiatus from radio until he returned to KCBS and later WLUP in the mid-2000s. Brandmeier is part of the local band The Leisure Suits, who play near Windy City. In 2011, he joined WGN Radio. Brandmeier released five albums between 1982 and 2008, including “Almost Live”, “Brandmeier” and “Larger Than Live”.
