Hine attended the University of Michigan and appeared with Jon Glaser in the troupe of comedy troupe Comedy Company, and the two were also part of the troupe of comedy jokes. Hein sold his company, Jump The Shark, Inc., in 2006 to Gemstar, the company that owns TV Guide, for more than $1 million. He currently lives in Long Island, New York with his wife and two daughters. Some of the Howard Stern Show crew thought that after watching Jon host the Superfan Roundtable, Hein would be a good host for Stern producer Gary Dale Abarth’s wrap-up show. Despite being diabetic, Hein refused to give up fast food and weighed a whopping 255 pounds. He admitted on The Stern show on January 17, 2008, that he adjusted his insulin levels so he could indulge in junk food. Hein is also the co-host of the Friday radio show “Geektime!” and occasionally co-hosts “What’s Worth Watching” and the Jon Hein and Jason Kaplan Fast Food Special, all of which air on Howard 101. Hein began hosting The Bonus Show weekly comedy special with Rachel Fine on Howard TV on March 2, 2010. The show contains video clips of behind-the-scenes antics and other never-before-seen clips from The Howard Stern Show. His name became the inspiration behind the popular catchphrase “hit them with Hein!”.
