In 2003, Jolene van Vugt became the CMRC Women’s Ontario Provincial Champion, a feat she would repeat in 2004, when she was also the CMX Women’s Canadian National Champion. In 2005, she became the first woman to backflip a full-size SUV from a ramp into the mud. In 2006, she won the CMRC Canadian Women’s National Championship again and set a women’s backflip distance record of 60 feet. In 2007, Van Wuge became the first woman to backflip an SUV into the Grand Canyon. In 2008, she set the Guinness World Records for the first female backflip buggy and the longest female backflip. In September 2015, she was seriously injured and required reconstructive surgery on her face, with a long recovery period.
