He has served as an outfielder for the Kansas City Royals, Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. His achievements include 2 All-Star honors and 2000 AL Stolen Base Leader. Johnny David Damon was born on November 5, 1973 in Fort Riley, Kansas. He was raised by his parents Yome and Jimmy. His father served in the U.S. Army, which caused the family to move frequently. Damon has lived briefly in countries such as Japan and Germany. The family finally settled in Orlando, Florida. He attended Dr. Phillips High School, where he played baseball and football.

Damon was selected by the Kansas City Royals with the 35th overall pick in the 1992 amateur baseball draft. He spent 3 years in the minor leagues and won the 1994 All-Star Royals minor league player of the year award. Damon made his major league debut in August 1995. From 1995 to 2000, he played for the Royals for 6 seasons. He led the American League (AL) in 136 games in 2000. He also led the league with 46 stolen bases. Damon played for the Oakland Athletics in the 2001 season. In the three-person trade between Corey Liddell and Mark Ellis, he was traded to the track team.
Damon signed a four-year, $31 million contract with the Boston Red Sox in December 2001. He led the league trio (11 times) and was selected for the 2002 MLB All-Star Game. The Red Sox defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2004 World Series. Damon played 4 seasons with the New York Yankees from 2006 to 2009.
