John Travolta is an award-winning actor and singer. He shot to fame in the 1970s with films such as “Saturday Night Fever” and “Grease.” He was born to Helen Burke and Salvatore Travolta on February 18, 1954 in Englewood, New Jersey. His mother and five siblings all took action at some point in their lives. Travolta grew up in a Christian family, but he later converted to Scientology. He was a student at Dwight Morrow High School before dropping out to pursue acting.

Travolta moved to New York City and made his Off-Broadway debut in 1972’s “Rain.” He later joined the cast of the musical “Grease” and then “Here!”. After conquering Broadway, Travolta moved to Los Angeles, where he had a role in the 1976 horror film Carrie. He went on to play his most memorable role as “Tony Manero” in Saturday Night Fever (1977) and then “Danny Zuko” in Grease (1978). His performance in “Saturday Night Fever” earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor. Other notable films include City Cowboy, See Who’s Talking, and the 1994 classic Pulp Fiction directed by Quentin Tarantino.
Travolta won his first Golden Globe for his performance in “Short Man” (1995). He collaborated with Nicolas Cage in the 1997 sci-fi action film Face/Off. A musician, Travolta released his debut single “Let Her In” in April 1976. He collaborated with Miley Cyrus on the 2008 hit “I Thought I Lost You”.
