Smedley co-founded Verant Interactive, Inc., which became Sony Online Entertainment, Inc. after it was acquired by Sony Pictures Entertainment in 2000. Smedley announced in 2007 an opportunity to serve as a director of Sony Online Entertainment, which included expanding business models beyond subscriptions. It also includes pursuing female consumers to balance its 85% male audience. EverQuest’s 15th anniversary was recently held at SOE Live in Las Vegas.
