John Legend is a multi-Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and actor. He was born John Roger Stephens on December 28, 1978, in Springfield, Ohio. His father Ronald was a factory worker and his mother Phyllis was a tailor. He has three siblings, Vaughan, Ronald and Phyllis. Legend attended North High School and then attended the University of Pennsylvania to study African American literature. After graduation, he worked as a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group.

As an actor, the legend made his television debut in the 2006 Sesame Street episode. In 2007, he starred in the series Curb Your Enthusiasm and Las Vegas. Legend played the role of “Marcus Hooks” in the 2008 musical comedy film Soul Man. The film stars Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mack. Legend has performed in Dancing with the Stars (2010), Royal Pain (2011) and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (2015). He was a 2015 contestant on Lip Versus and Hollywood Game Night. Legend serves as executive producer on the “Underground” series and the film “On the South Side.” He won a Golden Globe and an Oscar for the song “Glory” used in the movie “Selma.”
