John Heard is an American film, television and stage actor. He played “Peter McAllister” in the “Home Alone” movie alongside Macaulay Culkin. His film credits include Heart Beat (1980), Cat People (1982) and CHUD (1984). He has also featured on TV shows such as “The Client,” “The Sopranos,” and “Prison Break.” John Matthew Heard Jr. was born on March 7, 1945 in Washington, DC, to Helen and John. He has three siblings, including a sister Cordis and a brother Matthew. Heard is a graduate of Gonzaga College High School. He went on to study at Clark University and the Catholic University of America. He was inducted into the Gonzaga College High School Theater Hall of Fame in 2003.

In 1977, he won the Drama World Award for his role in the Vietnamese drama “GR Point”. His stage productions include Stakes, Othello and Split. Hurd made his feature film debut in Between the Lines (1977). The film, directed by Joan Micklin Silver, received 3 nominations at the 27th Berlin International Film Festival. Hurd played “Arthur Dimmesdale” in the TV miniseries The Scarlet Letter (1979). The play is based on Nathaniel Hawthorne’s 1850 novel of the same name. Other early films include Bitter Winter (1982) with Jeff Bridges, Knife Path (1981) and Nastassja Kinski’s Cat Man (1982) year). He also starred in the sci-fi horror film CHUD (1984) with Daniel Stern.
Heard of co-starring in “Paul Davenport” with Tom Hanks and Elizabeth Perkins in the fantasy comedy Big (1988). Other notable films include The Awakening (1990), Deceived (1991), Introduction to the Pelican (1993) and Eighteen Seven (1997). Hurd is probably best known for his role as “Peter McAllister” in the hit comedy film “Home Alone” (1990). He played Macaulay Culkin’s character Kevin’s father. Peter McAllister’s role was repeated in Lonely 2: Lost in New York (1992). Heard of playing “Roy Fordrigg” in the CBS series “The Client” (1995-96), opposite Joe Beth Williams. He made a cameo appearance as detective “Vin Makazian” in five episodes of “The Sopranos” (1999-2004). The role earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
