John Dunsworth is a Canadian film and television actor. He played “Jim Lahey” in the simulation series “Trailer Park Boys” and “Dave Teagues” in the TV series “Haven”. His film works include Stuck (2007), Cloudburst (2011) and Swearnet: The Movie (2014). John Francis Dunsworth was born on April 12, 1946 in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada. His parents are Frank and Francis. He is one of 10 children. Dunsworth grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He studied acting at the University of Guelph, but dropped out before completing his degree.

Dunsworth has appeared in many CBC radio dramas and stage plays at the Neptune Theater. He co-founded the alternative theater company “Pier One Theatre” in Halifax in 1971. He founded the “Filmworks Casting Agency” in 1987 as the casting director. He also experimented with politics, as seen in the documentary short film John Dunsworth: The Candidate (1988). Dunsworth’s first screen role was in the short film “Such a Long Run” (1978) as “Danny”. Other early film appearances include Deep Sea Conspiracy (1987) and Sunday Burial (1992). He appeared in the TV movies “Little Kidnapper” (1990), “Billy Life” (1993) and “Mary Silliman’s War” (1993). Dunsworth met TV director Mike Clattenberg in the mid-1990s. He played “Jim Lahey” in his short film One Last Shot (1998). This role won him the Best Performance Award at the Atlantic Film Festival.
Dunsworth played “Jim Leahy” in Kratenberg’s comedy series Trailer Park Boys. From 2001 to 2017, he starred in 11 seasons. The main actors also include Rob Wells, John Paul Tremblay and Mike Smith. The role of Jim Lahey is repeated in Trailer Park Boys: The Movie (2006), Countdown to Liquor Day (2009) and Don’t Legalize It (2014). Dunsworth played the role of a police officer in the Virginia Run (2002). He played “Arnold” with Olympia Dukakis in the comedy Cloudburst (2011). His film works include Stuck (2007) with Mena Suvari and Reversible Errors (2004) with William H. Macy and Tom Selleck. He is the subject of the documentary Santa Quest (2014). Dunsworth played the role of “Dave Teggs” repeatedly in the series “Heaven” (2010-15). The play is adapted from Stephen King’s 2005 novel “The Colorado Kid”. His television works include Lexx (1997-2002), Pit Pony (1999-2000), The Drunk and On Drugs Happy Funtime Hour (2011) and Forgive Me (2013).
