He is currently coaching the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers at the Big South Conference and in the business world as current chairman and former CEO of financial firm TD Ameritrade, the world’s largest online discount brokerage.
Moglia started the business in college, earning a bachelor’s degree in economics from Fordham University and a master’s degree in secondary education from the University of Delaware. Sports then beckoned him, and he began his coaching career in 1968 as an assistant at Fordham Prep School. He was an assistant at Archmere College from 1971 to 1974 and an assistant at Penncrest High School from 1975 to 1978. In 1978, Moriah moved to Lafayette as defensive coordinator, where he remained until 1980. His last coaching job in his first football career was at Dartmouth as defensive coordinator from 1981-83. After the 1983 season, Moriah began his second career in the financial heart of Wall Street, and he decided to take a training class with Merrill Lynch so that his career in business could really take off. He spent 17 years there, serving on various executive committees throughout his career. Then in 2001, he was named CEO of TD Ameritrade, where he went on to grow the firm’s client assets from $24 billion to over $300 billion. The company’s market capitalization also reportedly increased from $700 million to $12 billion. Moriah stepped down in 2008 and volunteered in Nebraska in 2009, eventually joining the Omaha Nighthawks in 2011. In 2012, he became the head coach of the Coastal Carolina Celtics and led the team to the 2012 Big Southern Conference Championship in his first season.
