Joe Budden is an American rapper and a member of the hip-hop group Slaughterhouse. He was born on August 31, 1980 in Harlem, New York, his original name was Joseph Anthony Baden II. He was raised in Jersey City, New Jersey by his mother Faye Sutherland. Baden High School dropped out and started taking drugs. In the summer of 1997, at the age of 17, he entered the drug rehabilitation center.

Budden’s first album of the same name, Joe Budden, was released by Def Jam Recordings in June 2003. The album was ranked 8th on the Billboard 200 chart and released the singles “Pump It Up” and “Fire (Yes Yes Y’all)” in collaboration with Busta Rhymes. The songs from the album appear in movies such as 2 Fast 2 Furious, Mean Girls and Cradle 2 the Grave. Budden signed with the independent record company “Amalgam Digital” in 2007. His second album, Padded Room, was released in 2009. Other releases of Amalgam Digital include Mood Muzik 3: The Album (2008), Halfway House (2008) and Escape Route (2009). Budden’s third studio album “No Love Lost” was released in 2013, and his fourth “All Love Lost” was released in 2015. He appeared in the third and fourth seasons of the VH1 series Love & Hip Hop: New York.
Budden and Joell Ortiz, Kxng Crooked and Royce da 5’9″ formed the super group Slaughterhouse in 2008. Their first album of the same name, Slaughterhouse, was released in 2009. Their second album Welcome to: Our House was released in 2012. Ranked second on the Billboard 200. This album features artists such as Eminem, Cee Lo Green, and Swizz Beats. The group’s third album “Glass House” is scheduled to be released in 2016.
