Joaquin Phoenix is an Oscar-nominated American actor, film producer and activist. His film works include Gladiator (2000), Her (2013), Born Sin (2014) and the upcoming Joker (2019). He played the singer/songwriter “Johnny Cash” in the biopic Walk the Line (2005). Phoenix was born on October 28, 1974 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, his original name is Joaquin Rafael Botton. He has 4 siblings, Summer, Liberty, Rain and River Phoenix (d. 1993). His parents John and Alin were once members of the Son of God. Soon after leaving the cult, the family changed their surname to “Phoenix”.

Phoenix debuted in the CBS TV series “Seven Brides of Seven Brothers” in 1982. He was 8 years old at the time.
