early life
Jimmy Fallon was born on September 19, 1974 in the Bay Ridge community of Brooklyn, New York. Fallon attended the Roman Catholic school St. Mary of the Snow. He was the school’s altar boy and was considered a priest for a time. When Fallon started getting more exposure to comedy by listening to Dr. Demento’s show on the radio, his religious ambitions went beyond his religious ambitions. Like many teenagers, Fallon was hooked on Saturday Night Live. He and his sister performed sketches from the show for their parents and friends. At Saugerties High School, he performed most of his stage plays during his four years of high school. He graduated from Saugerties High School in 1992. Fallon attended Saint Rose College in Albany, New York. On weekends, he performs stand-up comedy. He left college a semester before graduating in 1995 and moved to Los Angeles at age 21 to pursue a full-time comedy career.
Profession
In Los Angeles, Jimmy joined the improv band The Groundlings and began perfecting his stand-up performances. He often does stand-up performances at legendary improv shows, for which he’s paid $7.50 per show, and that doesn’t even include parking for the improv show.
Fallon first auditioned for “Saturday Night Live” in 1997, but was unsuccessful. Fallon had his second audition for SNL at the age of 23. SNL auditions are notoriously intimidating and difficult. During the audition, many told him that creator Lorne Michaels almost never smiled during the audition. Fallon came on stage and did a great job. He performed a “celebrity walking marathon” skit with the impression of well-known comedians such as Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock. Michaels smiled. He was hired as an actor for the 1998-1999 season. Fallon became the show’s most distinctive impressionist painter.

At first, Fallon thought he would follow in John Belushi’s footsteps and work at SNL for three years. However, he was persuaded to stay when he was given the reins for a weekend update in 2000 with Tina Fey. In his later years on SNL, Fallon co-starred with Justin Timberlake in a skit called “The Barry Gibb Talk Show,” where they portrayed musicians Barry and Robin Gibb. This marked the beginning of a long friendship and collaboration with Timberlake. Fallon was an SNL actor until the 2004 season. Known as the best SNL actor since Phil Hartman, he is very popular among SNL fans.
In 2002, Fallon hosted the MTV Video Music Awards. In his opening monologue, Fallon parodies music videos for Eminem, Avril Lavigne, The White Stripes, Enrique Iglesias, Dave Matthews Band and Nelly.
After leaving SNL, Jimmy pursued acting careers in films such as Fever Pitch, Factory Girl, Ted 2, Jem and the Holograms, iCarly, 30 Rock, Family Guy, Taxi and Whip It.
In 2009, he succeeded Conan O’Brien as the host of the TV show “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” which was renamed “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.” In April 2013, NBC announced that Jimmy had been selected to take over The Tonight Show from Jay Leno immediately after the 2014 Winter Olympics. Fallon, the first host in “The Tonight Show” history (besides original host Steve Allen), became the show’s permanent host, having not been a “guest host” before. Before him, Jay Leno had guested on Johnny Carson, Carson had done it for Jack Parr, Parr had done it for Steve Allen.

real estate
Jimmy’s first real estate purchase in New York City was an $850,000 one-bedroom condo in 2002. He bought the apartment at the urging of SNL producer Lorne Michaels. Jimmy later revealed that he couldn’t actually afford the money in 2002, but he wisely followed Lorne’s advice. After he married Nancy Juvonen, they started buying adjacent units. For example, in 2014, they paid $725,000 for a penthouse studio. The purchase of the nine-story, roughly 35-unit building follows a $1.35 million purchase of a one-bedroom apartment next door to the studio a few months ago.
Over time, they combined the units to create a six-bedroom, 5,000-square-foot apartment. Their total spending on the five apartments was $5.8 million. In March 2021, Jimmy and Nancy put their complex on the market for $15 million.
Fallon and his wife own a house in the Hamptons. Located in Sagaponack, it is a 3,500 square foot farmhouse style home built in the 1800s. They bought it in 2011 for $5.7 million.
