Jerome Williams was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1981 and was selected by the San Francisco Giants with the 39th overall pick in the first round of the 1999 Major League Baseball draft. Before making his MLB debut for the team that drafted him on April 26, 2003, Williams worked in the organization’s farm system for nearly five years.
Williams played for the Giants until 2005 before being traded to the Chicago Cubs. Two years later, he signed a free agent contract with the Washington Nationals before the 2007 season. He was released in August 2007 following multiple injuries and declining performance; days later, Williams signed a deal to join the Minnesota Twins’ minor league affiliate. When that contract didn’t pan out, Williams pitched for the Long Beach Armada in the Golden Baseball League for two months before the Los Angeles Dodgers bought out his deal. Williams went on to play for the Oakland Athletics, Puerto Rico Indio Mayaguez, Taiwan Unified Lions, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Houston Astros, Texas Rangers and Philadelphia Phillies.
