Jarome Arthur-Leigh Adekunle Tig Junior Elvis Iginla was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in July 1977. While playing for the Kamloops Trail Blazers, he was a member of two Memorial Cup-winning teams.

In 1996, he was named the Western Hockey League Player of the Year. In the 1995 NHL draft, Ijinra was selected 11th overall by the Dallas Stars. Before his debut, the Stars traded him to the Calgary Flames. During the 2001-02 season, he won the Lester B. Pearson Award as MVP and led the league in goals and points. In the 2003-04 season, he led Calgary to the Stanley Cup final and led the league in goals again. Jarome Iginla is a six-time All-Star.
