Jeannie Ortega is an American pop singer/songwriter, actor and TV presenter. Papoose’s single “Crowded” became her first song on the Billboard Hot 100. Her full-length projects include No Place Like BKLYN (2006), Perfect Love (2012) and Love Changed Me (2016). Jenny started her recording career at Hollywood Records. She is currently signed with AIC Records. Her screen works include the movie Step Up (2006) and the ABC series One Life to Live. Jenny was born on November 19, 1986 in Brooklyn, New York, her original name is Jeannette Ortega. She has an older sister named Josephine. Ortega grew up near Bushwick. She attended Brooklyn Art High School and graduated in 2002.

Ortega was originally half of the music/dance duo “Sugar and Spice”. She caused an early sensation with the song “Got What It Takes”, which appeared in the soundtrack of “Love Doesn’t Cost” (2003) starring Nick Cannon. Her next popular song “Future Is Clear” was added to the soundtrack of Disney’s That’s So Raven. Ortega eventually signed with Hollywood Records, a Disney subsidiary. She spent several years touring on popular music radio station Disney. Her first album “It’s R Time” on Hollywood Records was released in October 2005. The track was well received and was later added to the original soundtrack of Freedom Writers (starring Hilary Swank in 2007. Ortega opened for Rihanna during the 2006 national tour. Ortega’s first studio album No Place Like BKLYN was released in August 2006. It is ranked 127th on the Billboard 200 and number one on the Top Heatseekers album chart. The album was supported by the singles “Crowded”, “It’s R Time” and “So Done”. Papoose’s collaboration “Crowded” became her most popular song, ranking 93rd on the Billboard Hot 100 and 44th on the Pop 100 Airplay charts. The official music video has been viewed more than 890,000 times on YouTube. Ortega and Hollywood Records parted ways in 2007. After she left, she signed with AIC Records. She released two Christian albums Perfect Love (2012) and Love Changed Me (2016). Her recordings also include EPs New Day (2011) and Road to 31 (2018).
