Eller studied at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London and the North Carolina School of the Arts. In 1991, she starred in her first West End production, “Tartuffe”, which won the Ian Charlesson Award. She shot to fame in the 1995 miniseries “Pride and Prejudice” as Elizabeth Bennet. Eller won a BAFTA for her performance. She toured briefly with the Royal Shakespeare Company before appearing in Road to Heaven, This Year’s Love, Before the Rain, The King’s Speech, March Ideals, Contagion, Adjustment Bureau , “Zero Dark Thirty” and “Robocop”. Ehle will play Carla Wilkes in Fifty Shades of Grey. While pursuing her screen acting career, Eller remained committed to stage production and won a Tony Award for Broadway’s “The Real Thing.” She has appeared in “The Philadelphia Story”, “Macbeth”, “Utopia Shore” and “Mr. & Mrs. Fitch”. Eller has been married to her husband, author Michael Ryan, since 2001. They have two children, a son and a daughter.
