He won the 1990 Nashville Speedway Championship and soon entered NASCAR. He made his NASCAR National Series debut at the Autolite 200 in Richmond in 1990. Since then, he has played in nearly 400 games over a nearly 25-year period. He won his first race at the 1997 Las Vegas 300; Green had 16 wins and 127 top 10 finishes. He later started competing in the 1994 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at the Richmond Miller Genuine Draft 400. Since then, he has played in more than 265 events, 16 of those top-10 finishes, without winning by two strokes. His best result was in 2002, when he was ranked 17th. Green won the 2000 Busch Series and was the 2003 Daytona 500 pole position champion. He also competed in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Virginia’s first race for the Lovers 200 in Richmond in 1997. Green played in ten races and finished in the top 10 in the series.
