Jeff Bezos is an American entrepreneur, business leader, investor and philanthropist. He is the founder, chairman and CEO of Amazon. He is also one of the richest people in the world, with a personal net worth of over $115 billion. Bezos was born Jeffrey Preston Jorgensen on January 12, 1964, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His biological parents, Jacklin and Ted Jorgensen, separated when he was a toddler. His mother remarried Mike Bezos, a Cuban immigrant and Exxon engineer. He was about 4 years old at the time. Bezos moved to Miami, Florida, with his family as a teenager. He attended Palmetto High School in Miami, followed by Princeton University in New Jersey. He graduated in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and computer science.

Bezos founded the aerospace company Blue Origin in 2000. The company is privately funded and headquartered in Kent, Washington. Blue Origin develops technology and provides space services. Bezos bought the Washington Post newspaper for $250 million in 2013. The deal was closed in October 2013 by Bezos’ Nash Holdings LLC. His other investments include “Google” and “Unity Biotechnology”. Bezos Expeditions has funded several companies, including Airbnb, Nextdoor, Stack Exchange, and Uber. He has also donated millions of dollars to nonprofit projects such as the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
