Jonathan Joshua Perez, better known as “JayDaReal”, is an American recording artist from Manhattan, New York. He started his musical journey with the hit single “Memories”, which subsequently appeared on his album Realest In Zone6ix (2015). The performance of this project on the Spotify rankings is admirable. JayDaReal was born in New York City on June 13, 1995. His parents Geovanny Cuevas (mother) and Eduardo Perez (father) are from the Dominican Republic. They moved to the United States just before he was born. Jay has 4 siblings-a younger brother and younger sister, and a younger brother and older sister.
Jay discovered his passion for music at a very young age. He pays close attention to this industry, knowing that one day he will leave his mark. JayDaReal’s initial career began in high school. In his freshman year, he performed freestyle swimming to friends on the bus and in the school cafeteria. He continued his music career, but he was not fully committed at the time. Jay gained a certain stage influence while performing on open microphones, karaoke and local bars. However, it was not until one of his high school friends encouraged him that he began to take music games seriously.

JayDaReal grew up as a Catholic. However, he has his own beliefs. His hobbies include sports (mainly basketball) and traveling. Jay is a big fan of the Los Angeles Lakers. He admired the late Kobe Bean Bryant and regarded him as a role model. After Kobe’s death, Jay paid tribute to the basketball legend with a tattoo on his left rib.
Jay got his daughter’s name “Amira Perez” tattooed on his right rib. His other prominent tattoos include a tribute to heaven on his chest, with a cross in the middle, the face of an angel on the right, and the names of loved ones on the left. These precious names include his grandfather, uncle, and his good friend (nicknamed “Lil Dee”), who died in a tragic car accident when he was young.
