Jay-Z is an American rapper, music producer, entrepreneur and multiple Grammy Award winner. He was born Sean Carter on December 4, 1969 in Brooklyn, New York. Before becoming a rapper, he attended high school with The Notorious BIG and Busta Rhymes. Carter began writing lyrics and freestyle at an early age. When he appeared on Yo! MTV Raps in 1989. In 1995, he created Roc-A-Fella Records with Damon Dash and Kareem Biggs. Carter released his debut album Reasonable Doubts in 1996, which peaked at number 23 on the Billboard 200. His sixth album, The Blueprint, was released in 2001 by guest rapper Eminem. His most recent credits include Comic Car Grail (2013) for which he has been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards. Jay-Z is co-owner of the 40/40 Club, co-creator of Rocawear and part owner of the Brooklyn Nets. He married Beyonce in 2008 and they have one daughter. Jay-Z has a net worth of $900 million and is 6-foot-2.
