What is Jason Newstead’s net worth?
Jason Newsted is an American heavy metal musician with a net worth of US$60 million. He is best known for playing bass guitar with the Metallica band. He is also associated with Voivod and Flotsam and the Jetsam band. In 1986, former bassist Cliff Burton joined Metallica after he was killed in a bus accident. Newsted remained a member until 2001, which made him the band’s longest serving bassist to date. After leaving Metallica, he continued his Echobrain project, played with Ozzy Osbourne, and joined the heavy metal band Voivod. Newsted uses the alias Jasonic, which is not only his Voivod alias, but also the name of his music publishing company. He is also the founder of the Chophouse Records studio and record company in California.
early life
Jason Newstead was born on March 4, 1963 in Battle Creek, Michigan. Jason’s first instrument was the guitar, which he started playing at the age of 9. After getting in touch with Kiss’s Gene Simmons, he started to learn bass at the age of 14. Newsted cited Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath as his main influence and listed Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead, Steve Harris of Iron Maiden, Peter Baltes of Accept, Geddy Lee of Rush, Rob Grange of Ted Nugent, and Bill Church of Montrose as his Other important influences.
Metal
Metallica’s original bassist Cliff Burton died in a tourist bus accident on September 27, 1986. More than 50 bass players participated in the audition to replace him. Jason was the last person to audition and finally got the show. During these six months, he was purely a hired conference musician. He was elected as a full member of the group in April 1987.
Jason worked with Metallica from 1986 to 2001 and was at the peak of business. He played the band’s classic albums “…And Justice for All”, “Metallica” (aka Noir Album), “Load” and “Reload”, etc.
Jason Newsted co-wrote three famous Metallica songs: “Blackened”, “My Friend of Misery” and “Where the Wild Things Are”.
Black album royalty
The 1991 album “Metallica”, usually called the “Black Album”, received 16X Platinum certification. The album has been so successful so far that it has long been claimed that Jason and other Metallica members can have a very good life with only the annual royalties from the Black Album. Even though it is 30 years old, it obviously still sells 5,000 copies a week.

After the metal
Jason left Metallica in 2001 because he was frustrated that his ideas were not included in the new project. He was replaced by Robert Trujillo.
After leaving, Newsted released an album with his new band Echobrain, and eventually joined the Canadian whip metal band Voivod. Ironically, he also replaced Robert Trujillo in the Ozzy Osbourne band during Ozzfest 2003, which included Voivod as a second stage performance. In an interview with MTV, both Osborne and Newt showed great enthusiasm for co-creating a new album. Osborne compared Newt to “young Geezer Butler.” This will not happen because Newt left Osborne after completing his tour at the end of 2003.
On April 4, 2009, Newsted and Metallica attended the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame initiation ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio, and played with the band with current bassist Robert Trujillo. He currently plays in his eponymous band Newsted, where he provides lead singer and bass.

Jason’s main residence for many years has been a large mansion in Walnut Creek, California, east of San Francisco.
According to reports, he owns several houses in an upscale community in Jupiter, Florida, and a large rural property in Michigan.
Jason owns a 545 acre ranch in Montana, which he listed for sale in October 2017 for just under $5 million.
In early 2020, Jason spent US$6.1 million to purchase a 3-acre lakefront property on Skaneateles Lake in New York.

Jason has been married twice. His first marriage was in 1988 and did not last a year. He is currently married to Nicole Leigh Smith. They got married in 2012.
