Jason Derulo is an American pop singer, songwriter and dancer. His studio albums include Future History (2011), Tattoos (2013) and Talk Dirty (2014). Derulo was born Jason Joel Desrouleaux on September 21, 1989, in Miramar, Florida. He has two older siblings, including a brother named Joel. Derulo is a graduate of the American Academy of Music and Drama in New York City. He cited the King of Pop “Michael Jackson” as his greatest influence.

Derulo started his ghostwriting career in Los Angeles. He has written songs for artists such as Birdman, Lil Wayne, P Diddy and Sean Kingston. Derulo entered the competition in 2006 and won “Apollo Show Time”. He later signed to Beluga Heights Records and Warner Bros. Records. His debut single “Whatcha Say” was produced by JR Rotem and released in 2009. It sold 4 million copies and was certified 4x Platinum.
Derulo’s self-titled debut studio album was released in March 2010. The album peaked at number 11 on the Billboard 200 chart. His second album, Future History, was released in September 2011 and was led by the singles “Don’t Wanna Go Home” and “It Girl”. Derulo’s other albums include Tattoos (2013), Talk Dirty (2014) and Everything Is 4 (2015). His latest single, “Swalla”, was released in March 2017 and features rappers Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla Sign. Other popular singles included “Wiggle”, “Talk Dirty” and “In My Head”.
In 2014, Derulo appeared as a guest judge on Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance”. He joined the panel in 2015 as a regular judge for season 12. Derulo’s TV credits include Empire (2015) and Lethal Weapon (2016). He was a musical guest on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars in 2013.
