He is a center who won the Western Canada Championship for the Yorkton Bantam AAA Terriers. He played for the Saskatoon Trail Blazers and was the first overall pick by the Edmonton hockey team in the 1997 WHL Bantam draft.

He was named captain of the ice team and helped them win the Memorial Cup. Stroll was selected by the Calgary Flames with the 46th overall pick in the 2000 NHL draft. He was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs but failed to sign. Stoll was again selected 36th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2002 NHL draft.
