In addition to making himself a deft skateboarder, he is also the owner and president of Black Box Distribution, which provides clients with brands such as Zero Skateboards and Fallen Footwear.
Born on October 11, 1974 in Dothan, Alabama, he started skateboarding at the age of eleven. Recognizing that the sport was his true calling, Thomas moved to the West Coast of the United States to pursue skateboarding. He got his first Thunder truck sponsorship in 1992 when he acquired Real Skateboards and Spitfire wheels at Deluxe Distribution. It was while he was living in San Francisco that he turned pro and started riding for a skateboard deck brand. In 1994, he decided to move to Southern California, where he shot video footage of Spitfires and Invisible Man. A year later, he left Invisible to join Toy Machine, for which he shot two videos, one of which was “Welcome To Hell.” Since then, he has never stopped making films with discs containing more than 20 films. In 1996, he started a small clothing company through Toy Machine distributor Tum Yeto. Later, the company changed its name to Zero Skateboards. Today, Thomas owns another company, Black Box Distribution, which was founded in 2000 and is the parent company of Mystery Skateboards, $lave Skateboards, Zero Skateboards, Threat By Zero, Insight Clothing and Fallen Footwear. Jamie Thomas has played the entrepreneurial role so well that in 2006 he won the regional “Entrepreneur of the Year” award from Ernst & Young.
