James van der Beek is an American actor from Cheshire, Connecticut. He played “Dawson Leery” in Dawson’s Creek (1998-2003) and played his fictional himself in Don’t Trust the B– in Apartment 23 (2012-13). His mother Melinda is a gymnastics teacher, and his father James is the supervisor of the telephone company. When he grew up, Van der Beek played football.
