James Michael Toseland, born on 5 October 1980 in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, had a prolific career that was brought to an end by injury. The teenage Toslan started the sport during the British Super Junior series and he rose to prominence throughout the 90s.
In a professional racing career spanning more than a decade from 2001 to 2011, Toslan won two World Superbike titles, once with a Ducati in 2004 and another with ten Kate Hondas in 2007. As a result, he became one of only two men to win the World Superbike Championship for two different manufacturers, the other being Troy Corser. On September 9, 2011, he officially retired from the sport due to a wrist injury in March of the same year. After retirement, he devoted himself to leading a music career as he was a keen pianist and singer-songwriter. In addition to playing regularly with his band Crash at shows around the world, Toseland also plays solo. Toslan’s most recent appearances include a performance with Ray Stubbs for the BBC’s ‘Sports Relief’ programme and the 2007 British Sports Personality of the Year Award.
