Jake T. Austin is an American actor best known for his role as “Max Russo” in Wizards of Waverly Place. He also voiced “Diego” in the animated series Go, Diego, Go!. Austin was born Jack Austin Szymanski on December 3, 1994 in New York City. His parents are Giny Rodriquez Toranzo and Joe Szymanski. He has a sister named Ava. Austin attended Felix Festa Middle School in West Nyack, New York.

Austin started his entertainment career at an early age. He started advertising in 2002 and then landed his first role on The Late Show with David Letterman (2003). Austin voiced the character “Diego” as Dora the Explorer in 2004’s 3 episodes. Diego’s character is featured in Go, Diego, Go! There were 56 episodes from 2005 to 2008. Other early dub credits include “Nicky” in The Ant Bully (2006), “Yankee Irving” in Everyone’s Hero (2006) and “Bluz” in Happy Monster Band (2008).
Austin further gained popularity by playing “Max Russo” on the Disney fantasy sitcom “Wizards of Waverly.” He starred in 94 episodes and won the 2012 Hollywood Teen TV Award for his performance. He also starred in Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie (2009) alongside Selena Gomez and David Henry. Austin was selected as “Jesus Foster” in the first two seasons of The Fosters (2013-15). Other notable on-screen appearances include Dog Hotel (2009) with Emma Roberts, New Year’s Eve (2010) with Halle Berry, and Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Fein (2014).
