Jacques Rivette is a famous French film director, film critic and one of the leading figures of the French New Wave movement. Born on March 1, 1928 in Rouen, France. He studied at Lycée Pierre-Corneille as a child. He moved to Paris in 1949 to pursue a career in filmmaking.
Profession
Rivette regularly attends film screenings at the Cinémathèque Française and other film clubs. His first short film “Aux quatre coin” was released in 1949, followed by “Le quadrille” in 1950. He began writing for Cahiers du Film in 1953 and served as editor in the 1960s. In total, he made 28 films, including The Nun (1966), Out 1 (1971), La Belle Noiseuse (1991) and his most recent, Around the Hill (2009).
